Class Experience

Get in the Halloween spirit with these adorable peanut butter spider cookies!
In this class, we will be mixing everything from scratch, baking the cookies, and decorating them like spiders while enjoying some fun Halloween music.
No googly eyes or peanut butter cups on hand? No problem! Come to class and we can learn how to make creative substitutions using chocolate chips, nuts, or other edible goodies.

Class Instruction will include:

- demonstration and discussion of mixing tools and techniques
- demonstration of shaping cookies and preparing for baking
- guiding students to decorate cookies as creatively as they choose
- modeling of proper oven usage and safety

I will model the process of preparing the cookie dough, baking the cookies, and decorating them in my kitchen as the student follows along while making their own.

Limited parental supervision is required for this class since we will be using the oven, mixer, and handling hot pans.
Everything that you will need for this class is included in the materials section below.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of California, San Diego
I have been baking for over 30 years and specialize in creating delicious pies, breads, and cookies. I have provided professional-grade desserts, pies and cake pops for many birthdays, graduations, baby/wedding showers, and community celebrations.

I am a graduate of the University of California at San Diego with a degree in Political Science. My teaching experience includes homeschooling my own two children for 18 years. I have also taught ESL online for the past 1 1/2 years.
Fun fact about me: I began baking on my own as a latch-key kid in the 80's. Many of my first attempts were completely inedible!
Now, after many years of experience and perfecting my craft, I'm excited to share my passion for baking with young learners!
