Students will learn to make Japanese Ramen. This is not your regular Ramen! Japanese Ramen is much healthier and tastier than instant ramen. The two types they can choose from are Shoyu Ramen (soy sauce flavor) and Miso Ramen with added ingredients. I have designed this recipe to make it kid-friendly, without having to boil the noodles and broth. My kids have listed this as one of their top 5 favorite foods! This is a recipe that kids can prepare for themselves as well as the whole family. Before the class, please prepare all the ingredients (check the supply list below). We will use precooked ingredients to assemble the ramen. During class, I will demonstrate the process step by step while students follow along to make their own ramen. I will check on their progress to make sure they're doing it correctly. I will also share with the students about how ramen was invented and how it saved many lives. We will be working with hot water, so please supervise as needed. Students will use the microwave to heat the broth as well as to cook the ramen. If you don't have a microwave, parents can assist students to boil water on the stove as well. By the end of the session, I hope students will gain a sense of confidence in themselves while having fun and enjoying a yummy bowl of Japanese Ramen. Students should be familiar with using the microwave for hot water. Otherwise, parents, please assist as needed.
