Hi! In this class I will lead the students through the steps to make Brezel (Pretzel), how they call them in Germany. The leaners will make a yeast dough and form the pretzels in regular pretzel shape or any other shape they want the pretzels to look like. While the pretzels are rising a bit, we will make the hot solution that the pretzels will have to bathe in before they go into the oven to be bake. So, after their bath in the hot water solution, the pretzels will go onto a baking sheet...
Students - learn how to make a yeast dough - let the dough rise without interruptions - use the stove to bring water to a boil and add baking soda - manage to bathe the pretzels in the soda solution - are careful around hot water and oven - learn to be more confident in the kitchen - feel welcome and seen in a virtual group meeting - ask questions when they arise - enjoy their pretzels - are proud of their own achievements - have fun baking and cooking
Ingredients: - Butter - Dry instant yeast (14g) - Water or milk - Salt (coarse) - Flour - Baking Soda Equipment: - bowl - big pot - baking sheet (+ parchment paper) - oven - stove - round skimmer (ladle with holes) or big spatula with holes
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The students will bring water to a boil on the stove and add baking soda. They'll also use the oven. Especially younger learners might need some help handling the hot equipment. The recipe asks for wheat flower. If any food allergies are present, please let me know and I will find an alternative.
