CLASS EXPERIENCE: Lets make a yummy St. Patricks Day Corn Beef, Cabbage, Carrots & Potatoes along with some tasty Cheddar, Garlic, Herb Irish Soda Bread. An amazing meal to celebrate this fun holiday with! I will be teaching the learners first to make the Irish Soda Bread and get it into the oven. Then we will work on getting our Corned Beef into the Instant Pot or Large pot on the Stove Top. Then we will prep our vegetables to add after our food has cooked long enough. 1 file available upon enrollmentNGREDIENTS: 4 cups plus 2 tbs flour all purpose 1 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 2 tsp granulated sugar 1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese 1 tbsp minced garlic 1 heaping tsp fresh rosemary 1 heaping tsp fresh thyme 4 tbsp grated butter 1 large egg 1 3/4 cup buttermilk or buttermilk substitute *Substitute: 1 3/4 cups milk and 3 1/2 tbsp lemon juice 3-4 lbs of corned beef brisket with spice packet 1 small head of cabbage 1 small onion 6 cloves of garlic 3–4 large carrots 1 bag of small petite/baby red potatoes 4 cups of beef broth SUPPLIES: Large mixing bowl measuring cups and spoons 1 baking sheet, dutch oven OR skillet (that can be placed in the oven) parchment paper if using a baking sheet spatula ***IMPORTANT***YOU NEED***Instant Pot OR stove top with large pot and lid. ****Steamer basket for the Instant Pot**** knife cutting board
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental supervision is encouraged to be available if your learner needs help with the oven, Instant Pot or stove top. Ingredients may need to be substituted to fit your learners needs if they have food allergies.
