In this class, we will begin with a quick introduction to conversions, and why they are important to science class. We will learn what all of the prefixes are, and then I will present a simple way to remember conversions. As a class, we will think of ways to remember this, and then practice some fun (and real-world) science conversions! I believe it is important to have students volunteering and contributing to discussion as much as possible to ensure that they are engaged and...
Students will improve their understanding of conversion units, and become proficient with solving conversions.
I have taught this lesson multiple times before and have had successful completions!
We will be completing a worksheet of multiple problems together as a class. The first few will be a walk-through. The next ones they will try on their own, while participating with classmates and myself for help and guidance. The last problems will be completed independently, and checked by me when finished.
A 2-page handout will be provided.
This class includes an informal assessment. To see if students understood the concept, they will be able to fully complete the last problems successfully.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
