Class Experience

Middle-school and early high-school aged learners with previous Spanish-language experience practice asking and answering questions together. I provide class notes in advance for those who would like to practice prior to each session. Each week focuses on a key question, for which I provide several optional answers, and we can generate more together in class as needed. We practice asking and answering from our own perspectives as well as providing creative answers. Each lesson also deals with a related grammar component that connects to that topic. We will maintain our communication in Spanish as much as possible in our class time with some English support as needed.

June 7 - Key question: ¿Qué hiciste ayer? (What did you do yesterday?)
Grammar focus: Preterit tense, focus on first person

June 14 - Key question: ¿Cómo te prepararas en la mañana? (How do you get ready in the morning?)
                 Grammar focus: Using reflexive verbs

June 21 - Key question: ¿Qué vas a hacer este fin de semana? (What are you going to do this weekend?)
Grammar focus: Using "ir a" to talk about the future

June 28 - Key question: ¿Cuál es el mejor regalo que has recibido? ¿que has dado? (What is the best gift you have received? that you have given?)
Grammar focus: Using indirect object pronouns

After class, learners are encouraged to write a short paragraph answering that week's question, whether from their perspective or a fictional perspective. I provide personalized feedback on learners' submitted work.
