*This is a weekly club/class that can be joined at any time! Does your child love everything about Space and/or Aliens? I do! As someone who has studied space for over 30 years, my family and I absolutely love discussing the theories, recent disclosures, and latest news about Space & the mysteries it holds, which is why I started this club. This class/club is an all-encompassing conversation of Space but in an exciting, unique way. It is not a lecture-based class, but instead, students will be presented with alleged eye-witness accounts, recently disclosed Space subject-matter, and other fun conversation starters, and will then be given the opportunity to share-out their thoughts, opinions, questions and more. This class/club is specifically aimed at allowing students to explore the more “unknown” or controversial aspects of space, extraterrestrials, UFO’s, signs of alien visitations here on Earth, and much more, all while offering them the opportunity to construct and share their own thoughts and opinions on the matter at hand. Note: This is not a fact-based class, as there is currently no scientific proof of these said encounters, details or experiences, however, this is a fun-filled discussion club/class which will take on all things “Space-Related”. This club is an ongoing class for teens ages 13-18 which meets once a week. Each student will be given various opportunities to share out their own thoughts, opinions, and beliefs, while also learning the invaluable skill of listening to others and respecting contradicting viewpoints. We will all learn and grow together in this class! No previous experience/knowledge needed.
Learning Goals
Students will develop listening and conversation skills while also learning more about the “unknown” or controversial aspects of space, extraterrestrials, UFO’s, signs of alien visitations here on Earth, and much, much more. *Emphasis will be placed on conversational skills between the learners in a respectful, non-judgmental format.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
As this course focuses on the more controversial aspects of space, extraterrestrials, UFO's and other interesting areas of space-studies, parents may remind their children that this is all speculation and theory, not necessarily fact. As of yet, the things we will be discussing remain "unproven" or, at the least, not openly accepted in many cultures and countries around the world. However, more and more people are beginning to open up to these vast possibilities.
Supply List
Students may want to jot information down notes and points to remember, so paper and pen are recommended. No other supplies are needed for this class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Missouri Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education
I have always had a love of space, from the moment my grandpa, an amateur astronomer, let me look through the 10-foot telescope he built all by himself, to watching shuttles & satellites lift into the sky, and watching some fall back to the earth. I have spotted some of the largest dust storms to hit Mars, and have enjoyed looking at the various craters on our Moon and seeing the rings around Saturn, all from my own backyard in Missouri & while using telescopes my grandpa built. I have never ceased my exploration and search, looking to the skies to watch for eclipses, comets, and so much more! My love of all things Space has only increased with time, as has my exploration. I feel it is the next great wave of our future! As a teacher with over 30 years of experience working with children of various ages, teaching various space lessons, and exploring the more controversial aspects of space with my family and friends, I’d love to share my knowledge and insight with the next generation as I hope to instill the awe-inspiring beauty the Unknown Universe holds, as well as encourage students to dream and believe! I hope to see you in our Conversations of Space Club!
