In this ongoing discussion club, students will be presented with a space-based subject-matter & conversation-starter, and will then engage in an in-depth conversation with their classmates and teacher.

Class experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Students will develop listening and conversation skills while also learning more about the “unknown” or controversial aspects of space, extraterrestrials, UFO’s, signs of alien visitations here on Earth, and much, much more. *Emphasis will be placed on conversational skills between the learners in a respectful, non-judgmental format.
I have always had a love of space, from the moment my grandpa, an amateur astronomer, let me look through the 10-foot telescope he built all by himself, to watching shuttles & satellites lift into the sky, and watching some fall back to the earth. I have spotted some of the largest dust storms to hit Mars, and have enjoyed looking at the various craters on our Moon and seeing the rings around Saturn, all from my own backyard in Missouri & while using telescopes my grandpa built. I have never ceased my exploration and search, looking to the skies to watch for eclipses, comets, and so much more! My love of all things Space has only increased with time, as has my exploration. I feel it is the next great wave of our future! As a teacher with over 30 years of experience working with children of various ages, teaching various space lessons, and exploring the more controversial aspects of space with my family and friends, I’d love to share my knowledge and insight with the next generation as I hope to instill the awe-inspiring beauty the Unknown Universe holds, as well as encourage students to dream and believe! I hope to see you in our Conversations of Space Club!
Students may want to jot information down notes and points to remember, so paper and pen are recommended. No other supplies are needed for this class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
As this course focuses on the more controversial aspects of space, extraterrestrials, UFO's and other interesting areas of space-studies, parents may remind their children that this is all speculation and theory, not necessarily fact. As of yet, the things we will be discussing remain "unproven" or, at the least, not openly accepted in many cultures and countries around the world. However, more and more people are beginning to open up to these vast possibilities.
