In this ongoing class, learners will practice their conversational Spanish skills by discussing different topics related to Spanish culture like hobbies, places, climate, food, sports, activities, etc. This class is for students that can speak and understand intermediate to advanced Spanish, even if their grammar is not perfect. This is not a class for beginners. The weekly discussions will be guided by the teacher. We will begin the meeting with greetings and introductions. Discussion questions will be asked to get the conversation going. We will discuss a different theme each week, as per the schedule below. During class, the teacher will help students with pronunciation and correct grammar as needed. Learners will have ample opportunities to speak and practice their Spanish conversational skills. The goal is to have fun with others while learning in a safe classroom environment. If you have questions about your particular student's skill level, I am here to help! Just send me a message! The weekly topics are listed below, though our discussions will not be limited to these topics alone. During each class, we will cover basic skills, such as greetings, feelings/moods, correct grammar/pronunciation, and so on. Week of 3/15: Food! We will discuss our favorites, as well as favorites from different Hispanic cultures. Week of 3/22: Weather! We will discuss the weather, seasons, climates, and so on using key vocabulary words, such as "clima, temporadas, tiempo, lluvia, soleado, frio, calor). Week of 3/29: Hobbies! We will discuss things we like to do for fun (various indoor/outdoor hobbies, group hobbies, and so on). Week of 4/5: Holidays! We will discuss our favorite holidays using vocabulary pertaining to each holiday, such as "Navidad." Week of 4/12: Morning Routines! We will discuss what we do to get ready in the morning, paying close attention to proper verb conjugation. Week of 4/19: Favorite animals! We will use descriptive language to discuss our favorite animals. Week of 4/26: Clothing/Shopping! We will discuss different articles of clothing, our favorites to wear, and what types of stores we like to shop at. We will practice some essential phrases related to clothes shopping, such as, "Cuanto cuesta el pantalón marrón?" Week of 5/3: Vacation/Travel! We will discuss past vacations/future travel plans using proper verb conjugations. Pictures of your favorite vacations are welcome! Week of 5/10: What did you do yesterday/last weekend/last summer? We will practice using correct verb conjugations while discussing events in the past. Week of 5/17: Favorite Major Event! (Birthday, Vacation, Special Occasion, etc.) We will discuss favorite major life events using correct verb tenses, adjectives, and descriptive language. I know from my own experience, learning a second language can be challenging, but I believe when we approach it with a good disposition and in a fun way we are able to learn it. I look forward to meeting your child in class. ¡Nos vemos en clase!

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Neil and I have a passion for learning and sharing what I know. I love teaching children in a fun and practical way. Spanish is my native language and I have enjoyed teaching others how to speak it. I myself learned English as an adult and can relate to the struggles that students experience when learning a new language. My goal is for students to learn in a fun and safe environment, free from judgment.
I am originally from Venezuela and have lived in the US for more than 20 years. My wife and I homeschool our three children, ages 19 (just finished college), 14, and 13. We have been homeschooling for the past 17 years. I've always been very active in our homeschool community co-ops, teaching cooking classes, science labs, geography and history (with a focus on Venezuela and other Latin American countries), and coaching soccer/bowling teams.
I am a fun-loving teacher who excels at building rapport with students. I am a very patient educator who believes everyone is capable of learning a second or third language. With encouragement and positive reinforcement, I believe any student can succeed!
My family and I love music, though I am not very good at playing instruments or singing. However, my family always gets a kick out of me pretending to sing opera. Figarooooo! I love making people laugh and I look forward to making learning fun for your students. See you in the classroom!
