In this course, students will learn key vocabulary, verbs, and grammar points to be able to have a simple conversation in French.

Class experience

Students will be able to ask and answer questions in french.
Students will be able to talk about their family, house, hobbies, food, places they like to go, and the weather.
Students will be able to understand and respond in French.
I grew up in New Brunswick, the only bilingual province in Canada! I've studied French for several years and now teach beginner French to students in grades 4-7.
Homework Offered
Students should spend about 60-90 minutes a week outside of class practicing the words they've learned. (30 minutes a day, 2-3 times a week). Students can use the games and activities used in class for practice. It is not possible to learn a language only practicing twice a week, so I encourage students to review a bit every day!
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be given a letter grade based on their score for each test and exam (middle and end of course). A--90-100%, B--80-89%, C--70-79%, D--60-69%, F--0-59%. Students will also receive feedback on all work they submit, and will be given help with pronunciation.
Grades Offered
Students will be given handouts at the beginning of each unit that they can reference with the vocabulary and grammar points we learn. This will help them master the language, but students should still focus on learning the words and should not rely on the sheet. They will also be given handouts with the verb conjugations, etc.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
In addition to Zoom, we will be using Quizlet and other sites to practice. I encourage students to access these during the week to practice between classes.
