Students will improve their conversational English skills. They will learn, or review, vocabulary that includes specific words used when traveling in Chicago. Their English proficiency will improve. They with practice speaking and reading in English. I want to listen to the students speak so I am able to correct pronunciation. The goal is for the students to speak as much as possible, so their confidence grows in their English language ability.
I have been working with children for the past twelve years and have taught English as a Foreign Language to children in China for over two years. I am an enthusiastic and energetic teacher! I love to make learning challenging and rewarding. I have a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). These certificates have taught me how to teach engaging classes by incorporating TPR (Total Physical Response), which greatly enhances online learning. Using TPR helps keep the students engaged and actively learning during lessons. When discussing class material, reading a story, and checking for understanding, using TPR can help the student actively remember what was learned.
There will be no homework. It will be most beneficial for the students to practice the vocabulary words during the week, so they retain them.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There is no assessment for this class. It is to improve the student’s English conversation skills.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
