In this ongoing group class, students practice speaking English in a conversational setting. This class is for English language learners who have a good knowledge of the English language and benefit from practicing English conversations.

I will be teaching discussion questions that promote discussion in the English language. I have a TESOL certificate and also teach with VIPKID (an online platform teaching English to students), Cambly, and Novakid. I will cover topics like "favorite things" and I will show pictures that generate discussion. Some questions will include, "What is your favorite card game? What is your favorite thing to do outside? Describe your personality...are you shy? Are you funny?" My teaching style includes a PowerPoint presentation, games, and a lot of discussion time. I created several PowerPoints which include pictures that will generate discussion. For example, one PowerPoint includes pictures related to the 4 seasons while another PowerPoint includes pictures of hobbies. Some of the topics will include hobbies, animals, funny pictures, prepositions of place, and sports. Students will discuss what they see and their opinions on the topics. This class is primarily discussion with my goal to be getting students talking most of the time. Students should come to class with a good knowledge of the English language. This is an ongoing class as I welcome repeat students and will make sure the content of the lesson is different each time!

Parental Guidance
Parental Guidance Statement: For the games, we will use baamboozle.com/games. These games are intended to promote conversation in a fun way. Typical games we will use include "Would You Rather" games. Students do not need an account. I will be screen-sharing only. The PowerPoints I will be using were created by me and include student-friendly pictures (for example, pictures of hobbies and the 4 seasons). Students do not need any program to see these PowerPoints as I will be screen-sharing only.

I am an elementary school counselor with 18 years of experience. I also teach on other online platforms - VIPKID, Cambly, and Zebra English. During my school counseling career, I've taught many topics in classrooms including self-esteem, coping skills, anger management, social skills, and more. I've also had the pleasure of running clubs based on topics of dinosaurs, unicorns, math, writing, and much more! Being able to share my interests with my students is a luxury!
In Outschool, some of the classes I plan on teaching will include topics on dinosaurs, unicorns, self-esteem, mindfulness, relaxation, coping skills, anger management, social skills, K-2nd grade math, and writing. I truly enjoy teaching these topics and look forward to working with your student!
My teaching style is interactive and learner-focused. I often use power points, stories I've written, discussions, and games in my lessons! I believe that teaching should not only help students learn about the topic being taught but that it should also be engaging and fun!
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, playing with my son and our dog, exercising, and traveling. I believe life is meant to be lived and enjoyed to the fullest!Reviews
