Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will learn about analysing film and television while strengthening their English language skills.
I hold BA and MA degrees in Film and Media Studies, and am pursuing a PhD in Film, Theatre, and Television. I also work as a college instructor teaching introductory film classes, including classes focused on global film and television. I also just really love K-dramas!
There is no homework to submit. Each week you'll watch two assigned K-drama episodes on your own and prepare for the weekly discussion.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Learners will watch two episodes of K-drama each week. Broadcast Korean dramas are regulated by the Korean Communications Commissions and given ratings which indicate that shows are acceptable for those under 12, those under 15, or adults 19 and over. By and large we will watch shows rated as 12 or 15 - but I will publish the upcoming shows in advance for learners and families to look into the ratings and genre and make decisions about whether the learner wants to participate those weeks.
