Class Experience
Welcome to Conversational Brazilian Portuguese! This is an on-going course for moderate to advanced level speakers where learners will be able to engage in conversation, pertaining to the world around them. The classes will be themed according to each season and festivals allowing students to practice themes in their home environment. As such, new students are welcome at any time. Classes will not only focus on new vocabulary, but will specifically target further usage of language through...
Students will practice and improve their knowledge of Brazilian Portuguese, by engaging in specific and themed activities. They will use new vocabulary in sentences throughout class, allowing them to grow in their understanding of the language, while simultaneously having fun and engaging in energetic ways. Students will practice a song, which will be cycled every month, in order to increase their knowledge of the Brazilian culture and musical rhythms. This will also allow them a chance of working towards a specific and measurable goal: singing through the whole song by the end of the month!
With over 15 years experience in Musical Theatre (including touring with Broadway!) Ms. Ana has the skills necessary to engage students while bringing creativity and music into the classroom. As a native Brazilian (from Belo Horizonte, MG) Teacher Ana will be an excellent resource into proper pronunciation. She has also been involved in teaching a second language (including French and ESL) for over 10 years.
Students will have access to flashcards of vocabulary words and themes learnt throughout the lesson, which they may review at home prior to each class. As well, the song lyrics and youtube link will be made accessible for each class in order that students might be able to practice the class song at home.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be no formal assessment, unless specifically requested by parents.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Youtube videos and song lyrics will be used to practice and review class songs.
