Feeling angry? Is your inner Hulk taking over your life? In this one-time class, students will learn about how their emotions and stress impact them, and practice techniques designed to bring a feeling of peace and tranquility to their lives. This class is perfect for those who are ready to learn the basics of guided relaxation in a fun, interactive way. No prior knowledge is needed, just a desire to relax! Students will first discuss the definition of anger with guidance from the teacher. Sensitive topics will be avoided-only general definitions will be discussed. They will then discuss the history of the Hulk, and how his anger was used for good and bad. This is their chance to share any Hulk knowledge that they have! They will then learn and practice a deep breathing technique called "Hulk Breathing" that will help them to relax. Next, students will participate in a guided relaxation activity that focuses on progressive muscle relaxation using Hulk themes. Finally, students will have the opportunity to provide the teacher feedback and ask any questions about the relaxation exercise. *Please note that this class is not intended to provide therapy.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to reduce their anger through a guided relaxation exercise. They will also practice a simple, fun breathing exercise in a calm, peaceful environment.
