Description
Class Experience
This class meets the following standards: NGSS - Earth's Systems NCTM - Problem Solving, Communication, Connections, Representation ITEA - Nature of Technology, Technology and Society, Technological World CCSS - English Language Arts Standard: Science and Technical Subjects
Week 1: Write an essay. The group should write a two-page paper summarizing their collective research on sea floor spreading and continental drift. Sources should be cited properly. The paper can include up to two images. DUE: Wednesday of Week #2. Week 2: Construct a model of the ocean floor. Learners will make a diagram and explain their strategy, then create the system individually. Week 3: Once learners have determined their model depicts the ocean floor as accurately as possible, they will collaborate to create a short video presentation, evaluating their model's ability to show the process of seafloor spreading and subduction, and discussing the process, to submit to the teacher. DUE: Wednesday of Week #4. Week 4: Reflect and Evaluate. Learners will complete the "Reflection" handout and evaluate their performance as a team member by completing the "Self-Evaluation Rubric." DUE: by close of class.
