Students will improve both their literacy and mathematical skills while applying those skills to real-life scenarios they will encounter in their adult lives.
I have been teaching consumer math in the format of personal finance in high schools for 20 years and consumer math and personal finance classes online for 5 years.
Homework Offered
I will be posting enrichment and practical practice problems students can do independently each week to ensure I know the student is learning. In addition, guided notes for the semester are posted before the first class so students can follow along as we practice in class. If a student is taking this class for a grade or credit, they will need to do the enrichments for assessment.0 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will be uploading two online assessments for learners to complete as well as options for weekly enrichments to complete outside of class that I will grade and provide feedback for. These enrichment activities are optional. If you would like a formal grade or assessment at the conclusion of the course if the enrichments are completed, please let me know, and I will be happy to do that for you!Grades Offered
Learners should come with their guided notes posted in the classroom, a writing utensil, and a calculator. Enrichment activities will be posted in the classroom after each class is finished.
I will be using materials from NGPF (Next Gen Personal Finance) and NEFE (National Endowment for Financial Education) High School Financial Planning Program, both with permission.
