Class Experience
In this fifty-minute-long course, students will have the opportunity to join in creative activities to jumpstart figuring out what makes them unique. They will have a chance to reflect, share, and hopefully come up with a good topic for their college application essay. From there, the teacher will go over a PowerPoint slide with information about two different styles of college essays. Students will be introduced to an outline that will help them process their ideas - and then will leave...
Students should come away from this class with a first draft of a college application or scholarship essay about their story. They should leave this class feeling confident about what story to tell and how to tell it.

Below are some of my policies and other Frequently Asked Questions - REFUNDS & TRANSFERS On Outschool, each class has a different refund policy. If you realize you cannot attend a class that has not yet met, please contact me and I can try to transfer the learner to another section of the same class. Transfer requests within 48 hours of the start of class sometimes are not possible. If you realize you have missed a class that has already passed, a recording of the class will be made available upon request. LOW ENROLLMENT In the case that a class does not meet the minimum enrollment, it may be cancelled and your enrollment fee returned to you. For one-time classes, I will make sure to reach out to you at least 24 hours in advance. For multi-day classes, I will make sure to communicate with you at least one week in advance if the class will be cancelled.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will be reviewing each College Essay (with a rubric) one time to try to help guide each learner to creating his or her best writing. *Please note, grades (letter/percentage) are not issued for this course. **Due dates are assigned. Work must be submitted on or before the due date to receive feedback.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
The Class PowerPoint, including examples and graphic organizer templates, will be uploaded for each session. Students will need a writing program or application to submit assignments (.doc, .docx, .pdf, .txt, GoogleDocs, etc) or the assignments may be typed directly in the chatbox options. Only typed essays will be accepted. No handwritten essays. Images will not receive feedback (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, etc).
