Class Experience

You've done the flashcards. You've read through the test brief and know the material. Is there still an overwhelming sense of dread about your test? Then this is the course for you.

In this one time course, we will review all the skills necessary to combat test anxiety for tests, including the SAT, ACT, PSAT, SSAT, and more! I will work with students to craft stress management toolkits for them to use on test day, including studying techniques, testing strategies, and unique tactics.

After introductions, we will begin the course by defining test anxiety and how it commonly manifests in student performance, affecting everything from a weekly vocab quiz to a standardized exam.

We will move on to discussing how test anxiety affects your brain and the best techniques for stress management on test day. We will discuss tactics like mini-meditation, hyper-focusing, and breath control to help students overcome anxiety with confidence and courage. This will help students see a path to success and how to maximize their skill set to earn a score that satisfies their goals.

We will then continue with study strategies, and I will provide concrete tactics to help students remember key steps and terms for their test, using techniques like kinesthetic learning and synaesthesia. How you study is almost as important as what you study!

As always, the best preparation is practice, so I will help students craft a personal studying plan that includes practice tests and content review for their exams. We will then discuss best practices for test-taking and what to do on test day to wake up your brain.

No prior knowledge is required for this course. I encourage students to bring a pencil and paper for note taking.

Class will be a combination of lecture and discussion, and each student is encouraged to bring their own anxieties and experiences to class. I will have a PowerPoint to assist visual students with note-taking. I have 8 years of tutoring experience and love helping students feel their best on test day. I want to help your student manage the test so they can truly shine!
Learning Goals
Students will learn to identify and manage their test anxiety by thoroughly understanding how and what to study for their personal exam, whether it is a school subject test or a standardized exam. We will discuss studying strategies and test-taking tactics to minimize anxiety throughout the process.

Students will learn HOW to study effectively, using a multitude of techniques I've used in my 8 years of tutoring and teaching experience, such as kinesthetic learning, synaesthesia, mini-meditation, and breath control.
