Students and teacher will meet in a live classroom setting for a discussion based class. They will discuss the pros and cons of performance jitters, developing coping skills for the symptoms of performance anxiety, and using a visualization technique to prepare long before the day of a performance. The teacher will share personal examples and help students develop their own "plan of action."
Students will gain preparation and coping skills to help diminish the effects of performance anxiety.
I've participated in band, jazz band, choruses, acapella groups, worship ensembles, do solo performance, have completed two music education degrees, teach music everyday and I STILL get performance anxiety! Over the past few years I have been learning techniques to manage the anxiety and even prevent a lot of it before the day of a performance. I am so excited to share these techniques and strategies with students so that they can get more comfortable on the stage and more confident in performing!
A handout will be provided and should be printed out to keep notes during class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
