Class is taught in a multi-sensory format, based on the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading & spelling, with many opportunities for student engagement. Helpful for struggling spellers, dyslexic learners, and those needing extra tools to build a strong spelling foundation!
Class experience
Spelling makes the most sense when it is taught in a direct manner, eliminating the need for guessing. In this class, we will cover 8 common sounds in our English language and learners will be given explicit directions on how to spell these sounds. Class is taught in an upbeat, encouraging, and multi-sensory environment. Allison Woolley has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Davis. She has homeschooled her children for 12 years and has seen the benefit of teaching direct spelling instruction to her own children, specifically the help it gives to struggling spellers and readers. Her experience also includes tutoring English Language Arts to 2nd – 6th graders and teaching faith formation classes to children in pre-K through 8th grade.
