In this one time course, students will learn how to navigate the difficult vocabulary found on the SAT, using context clues and test-taking strategies, and will learn tips to help study and memorize SAT vocabulary before taking the test.

Class Experience

The goal is for students to come out of this class with a growing ability to use context clues, test-taking strategies, and study skills to help them succeed on the SAT in regard to difficult vocabulary.
I have been tutoring SAT prep for a number of years, and I am also a certified English literature teacher constantly seeking to improve my students’ vocabulary and reading skills.
Recommended homework: After taking this class, put these ideas and tips into practice through independently doing SAT practice tests and studying SAT words.
The only materials needed are pencil and paper for possibly taking notes.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Throughout the lesson, there will be informal assessment through class discussions and practicing the skills and strategies that are presented.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
