Class Experience

Do you have a hidden space where all your stuff has been shoved? Maybe a crazy closet, chaos under the bed, or dresser drawers that you can't quite get all the way shut? We are going to focus on excavating our most challenging spaces. After our sessions, I guarantee your space will be better AND you’ll have strategies to apply to other hard spaces, or to help your family and friends conquer their hardest spaces too. (Oh, and if your whole room feels like a disaster zone and you WISH you only had a closet or single crazy zone to deal with, come and join us, we’ll all make progress together regardless of our starting point).

This will be a kind and judgement-free zone - we will be kind to each other, but most importantly we will be kind to ourselves, which sometimes can be hard when we are dealing with our own messes. This class will be a space where we don't judge ourselves based on our messy spaces. We'll just make it better and as we go, we'll feel better about ourselves and our spaces too!

As each learner is working in their own individual spaces, we will begin by setting some practical, personal goals. These goals will shape the focus for the three sessions - and may vary learner to learner and camp to camp. While each learner will work on their own space and priorities, each camp will include discussion around the same critical topics:

Day One, will begin by learning about the container concept and doing simple decluttering.
Day Two, we will discuss how we manage more difficult items - things that are special or sentimental.
Day Three, we will talk about how to stay motivated and make progress even when we become overwhelmed.

This will be a working class - be sure to have a donate box and garbage bag ready to go. We will talk and share, but we will spend the majority of our time actually doing the work and making progress. It will be fun, and we will get a lot done!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a teacher, a tutor and a mom from British Columbia, Canada. I currently am teaching full time in the public school system and enjoy tutoring and coaching part-time on Outschool as well.

As a child academics came very easily for me, but personal organization did not. I was the kind of kid who had a messy room and a messy desk, and later a messy locker, apartment and car! Kids who struggle with math or writing, often get support. Kids who struggle with life skills instead tend to get judged and treated like they are just lazy or don't care. I cared and my inability to figure out how to keep things tidy was frustrating, stressful and embarrassing!

I have studied and learned ways to work with my brain to get and keep things clean and organized. I love working with kids and teens who need a little extra encouragement, support and training in this area - and offer judgement-free, kindness based coaching for kids.

I really hope to get to meet and work with your children.
