In this ongoing class, learners will be introduced to types of speaking, practice their speaking skills, and learn tips to help in speech presentations. Speaking skills are essential for school presentations and life in general. This class will help learners practice various types of speaking such as informative, book reports, news report, persuasive speaking, speaking for special occasions, instructional speaking, movie reviews and more. Many times children are expected to know how to give a presentation without the ability to practice in front of a group. This class gives learners the opportunity to practice in a small group setting and learn how to present information in an interesting and confident manner. Following is the schedule for the beginning of class. Many ideas also come from current learners. Week one 6/12 silly news reports Week two 6/19 movie review Week three 6/26 informative Week four 7/10 book report Week five 7/17 persuasive speaking Week seven 7/24 recitation of a poem or prose Week eight 7/31 special occasion speaking Week nine 8/3 demonstrative Week ten 8/10 debate Week eleven 8/17 motivational Week twelve 8/24 impromtu

TYPICAL CLASS ROUTINE:
Greeting/Get to know you time
Class time, including teaching of given topic and practice of that skill
Closing which may include a puppet, a game, or show and tell, depending on the type of class your learner is taking. My goal is to have every child smiling and excited to return to the next class!
