In this Ongoing course, children will start to develop their speaking and listening skills. It can be a challenge for children aged 7 to 10 that speak English as a second language to grasp complex writing idea's before they can speak and express idea's confidently. The aim of this course is to teach children to do the following: - Understand the difference between, 'open', and 'closed', questions to encourage wider verbal expression and to avoid, 'yes', or 'no' answers. - Explore the importance of asking, 'WHO, WHAT, WHY, WHERE, WHEN, and HOW'. Developing questions and answers will help children develop their idea's and increase conversation time. - Work on grammar points, children often make mistakes when expressing idea's talking about the past, present or future. Through practising the use of verbs, adjectives, prepositions and connectives, children will clearly identify how to talk about actions correctly. - Vocabulary building, including the introduction of new words, with explanation of their meaning. This will help the student know how to express idea's using different contexts. - Clearing up the homophone issue of words that sound the same, are spelt the same or have a different meaning. We will explore the common words so that learners will know which vocabulary to use. - Conversational topics will relate to young people, including topics of personal interest to engage the student. The class will be structured in a small personal classes to ensure each student gets maximum talking time. As an experienced TEFL/ESOL qualified teacher, I am to speak only 30% of the time. My focus is on pronunciation errors, improving grammatical usage, and confidence in expressing idea's. The class is structured in a way that learners will learn using the following resources/methods. - games - role play - reviewing comprehension - reading written texts and discussing/summarising The only experience a learner needs is a command of basic English, I will evaluate every child that I teach and ensure each lesson is planned for the needs to the student.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their language expression and widen their vocabulary and apply to conversation(s).

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and thank you for stopping by to find out a little more about me, although I am more interested in you! I am from London and live in Buckinghamshire in a rural countryside setting. I love the peace and tranquillity of nature and the outdoors.
I have always had a passion for English, ever since I was a little girl and a fantastic teacher inspired me to read and imagine that anything was possible. Fast forward many years, that dream of becoming an English teacher turned into reality for that little girl that spent hours reading and imagining different worlds.
I graduated from Birkbeck University in London, having taken a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature. I studied everything from Shakespeare through to early 18th Century American Literature. I literally found my calling, I then went to achieve my PGCE equivalent Cert Ed in Education, where I qualified to teach young people aged 14+. In addition to this, I have been a private tutor for children ages 7+ for nearly a decade.
I love working across all age groups, as my approach to learning is both flexible and creative.
The most rewarding thing about my work, is my ability to connect with young people that do not believe in themselves. Teaching English, whether coaching to pass exams, or simply to improve written work or read for meaning, or to develop a hunger for exploring texts, is seeing ‘the moment’, the young person connects with what they are trying to achieve.
So, when I am not teaching, I love to walk my 2 dogs, cook or binge watch TV on Netflix.
If there is not something I offer, please just ask, and I will happily VA VA VOOM it up for you.
