Computer Software: Intro to MindMapping for Notes, Memorization, Thought

MindMapping is a great way to explore and document ideas, developing rough concepts into useable plans in a fun, creative, and  visual manner.  This process is an effective way to get thoughts into and out of the brain that literally "maps" the concepts and thoughts. It is a very effective note taking tool that allows free form, on the fly collection of related ideas into a concise visual representation of "the big picture."

In this class, we will use actual software (available as a free download) to create some sample maps in an instructor guided manner. Each student has the opportunity to learn the concepts of MindMapping as well as creating a sample map themselves on their own computer.

What is a MindMap
What are effective uses
Basic rules for successful mapping

During class we will use mindmapping software to demonstrate the concepts. There are two different ones I recommend, both free. Preference is Xmind8, check the links under "resources" to download it. Alternatively you can use Freemind, which is a java program and a bit older style.
