The training here will enable students to compete in CTF games. CTF stands for "Capture the Flag." Online CTFs are a competition which deals with many areas of computer technology including: computer security, software vulnerabilities, programming languages, "hacking" websites, cryptography. This class will begin with a small lecture. The students will then be guided through the challenges. Students will be given a few minutes to solve the challenge, they are free to ask questions, discuss their thoughts. Then they will be guided on the solution and given more information about the cybersecurity implications.
Learning Goals
In this Level 2 class students will learn:
Binary, Hexadecimal, Base64, and ASCII systems
encoding/decoding of data
reading/editing of cookies
"experience" a vulnerable webpage
Personal Privacy Concerns when posting images online
Steganography (hiding messages inside files)

Supply List
Students will need either a desktop or laptop. Students will need to have Google Chrome as their web browser. A tablet may not work for this course.
