Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
Q: What will be taught? A: In every 55-minute session, I focus on the student’s top three areas of opportunity. We work on key concepts and build a solid understanding through similar practice problems and guided review of past challenges. Subjects covered include (but are not limited to): - Most Information Systems/Computer Science K-12, Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate courses including Computer Science, IT, Python, R, JS/CSS, HTML/XML, Java, C/C++/C#, Visual Basic, Assembly, AI, Data Science, Web/Mobile Apps, Full Stack, and more. - Most academic standardized exams/papers/etc. including APs, IBs, and GCSEs (contact me to confirm, but by default I cover all exams that overlap with the academic areas mentioned above) Q: What topics will be covered? A: Topics are tailored to the individual’s needs. Depending on what the student brings, we may cover fundamental theories, targeted practice exercises, or reviews of missed problems in classwork and homework—always reinforcing core strategies. Q: How is the class structured? A: Each session starts with a brief review of previous material, followed by focused instruction on selected topics, interactive problem solving, and a final recap to consolidate learning. The structure ensures we cover all key areas efficiently. Q: How will you teach? A: I use a multi-modal approach— including combining brief lectures, interactive discussions, real-time Q&A, digital whiteboard work, engaging slides, and occasional video clips to illustrate concepts. This variety helps maintain focus and adapt to each student’s learning style. Q: What is your teaching style? A: My style is supportive, patient, and results-driven. I emphasize understanding the "why" behind each step rather than simply giving answers. I encourage active participation and independent thinking while offering guidance as needed. Q: How do students interact during the session? A: Interaction is a core part of the learning process. Students are invited to ask questions throughout, solve problems live, and discuss ideas. This ensures that every session is a dialogue rather than a one-sided lecture. Q: How should families prepare for a session? A: I recommend that each student comes ready with at least three specific areas or topics they’d like help with. In addition, any relevant materials should be scanned into a digital format and shared ahead of time so we can maximize our 55 minutes together. Q: Will you complete graded assignments? A: No. While I help students learn strategies to approach their assignments by working on similar problems and examples, I do not complete any graded work for them. This approach is designed to reinforce independent learning and uphold academic integrity. Q: Are all materials and resources used compliant with copyright/trademark guidelines? A: Yes, all resources are used with proper permission. I ensure that any trademarked or copyrighted material in my teaching is appropriately cleared and credited.
Learning Goals
Deepen Conceptual Understanding: Students will develop a strong grasp of core concepts, theories, and problem-solving techniques relevant to their course material.
Improve Analytical Skills: Students will learn how to break down complex problems into manageable parts and apply systematic strategies to reach a solution.
Other Details
Learning Needs
This class supports diverse learners including ADHD, dyslexia, and ASD with interactive tools, clear visuals, and structured lessons to ensure every student feels supported.
Pre-Requisites
For AI & Data Science, I strongly recommend exposure to basic Python at a minimum as we build on that Python coding knowledge. Prior exposure is helpful in all subjects, but sessions are tailored to meet each learner’s level.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
None by default, but we may access standard, related resources like Khan Academy, CrackAP, AP Classroom/FRQs, and/or OpenStax as needed. For coding, Visual Studio, Repl.it, Programiz, Jupyter, or similar IDE (depending on the language) is strongly recommended.
