Computer Science Memes for Software Engineer Teens: Object Oriented Javascript
Class experience
In this class, we'll learn about a computer science concept called classes! We'll go over Javascript objects and turn them into classes. Throughout this class, your student will learn how to make their code professional, and reduce the amount of lines of code they need using ES6 classes. Their code can fit any theme especially obvious ones like memes or DnD! Specifically we'll learn about: -Constructors -Classes -Program Design Classes are an important part of coding in industry and we'll...
When I was a kid, I designed Neopets and Myspace websites and for the last three years I've been the lead instructor of a brick and mortar afterschool coding program in San Francisco. I've been private tutoring/teaching programming and math for 5 years now and believe that the best coders are also the ones who enjoy it the most. In my previous role, I learned that helping students develop a positive growth mindset were key to a successful classroom and, thankfully, coding is one of the best ways to do that. I love helping my students grow not just as engineers but as people who are empowered to do anything with the flexible skillset they gain while learning programming. Before, I was a engineering/computer science teacher at a private high school in San Francisco. As a result of my experience, I've come up with a lot of coding drills and analogies that make things simple for everybody while delivering the key concepts. That means we won't just be talking about coding but also about cooking, real estate, and more. At the end of this course, students will hopefully want to learn more and be more willing to learn the drier more theoretical parts of Computer Science. Even if they don't, they'll walk away with the basic knowledge of how to work through things, take things apart, and put things together on the web!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Computer Science is the best platform to give kids the tools they need to start making and discovering things on their own. I love how programming allows students to become even better students by helping them learn to fail safely and...
