This is a comprehensive course that includes all the math needed to do well in math. This is going to be the first class in the series. It is a class designed for middle schoolers who have not done or are not doing so well in math, but who need to learn the concepts quickly and effectively to prepare for further studies such as high school, college, and exam prep. I will demonstrate: 1. Multiplying multiple digits - two or more columns and the details involved in arriving at the correct answer; padding with zeros and the addition involved. 2. Long division - even digits, remainder, place values. 3. Commutative and Associative properties - commutative properties of addition and multiplication; associative properties of addition and multiplication; their importance and how applicable they are. 4. Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing negatives - the mistakes we make and how to overcome them. 5. Dealing with mixed operator expressions - what to evaluate first when doing those long calculations. 6. Prime and composite numbers and factoring- what is a prime number, the secret of digital roots, and finding if a number is divisible by a certain number; decomposing numbers into their prime factors. 7. Dealing with fractions 1 - decomposing fractions (numerator, denominator), reciprocals, mixed number fractions, reducing, and cross multiplying. 8. Dealing with fractions 2 - division, multiplying, adding, subtracting, adding mixed numbers We will learn by gaming, demonstrations, and interactions. We will have fun sayings, slogans, and poems that will help the users learn the concepts. As a prerequisite, learners should be able to do single-digit arithmetic - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We will work on several exercises and learners will be presented with a few more exercises, including a daily challenge (for extra credit). Progress will be evaluated through short quizzes at the end of each week and then a comprehensive short test close to the end of the course.

I am offering this class because of my own experiences at one point when I needed to learn many math concepts in order to be proficient. I am also offering this class because I have been tutoring math for years and I notice that most students are lacking in those areas. I am offering this course specifically for students who are struggling to grasp the concepts or students who did not learn them properly.
