Class Experience
In this class, 1st-grade readers will develop essential comprehension skills through fun and engaging activities. We'll work on understanding the main idea, making predictions, and sequencing events in a story. Using age-appropriate books, we'll explore different comprehension strategies such as visualization, retelling, and asking questions. The class will include interactive read-aloud, discussions, and hands-on activities to reinforce the concepts learned. Students will have the...
Understanding the main idea of a story or text. Developing the ability to make accurate predictions about what will happen in a story. Practicing sequencing events in a story to understand the order of events. Enhancing visualization skills to create mental images while reading. Expanding vocabulary through exposure to age-appropriate books and discussions. Improving reading fluency and comprehension through engaging activities and practice. Practicing retelling stories in their own words to reinforce understanding. Fostering a love for reading and a deeper appreciation for stories. Building confidence as an engaged and active reader. Developing critical thinking skills by asking and answering questions about the text. These learning goals aim to support 1st graders in developing strong reading comprehension skills, which are fundamental for their overall literacy development.
