Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
When we talk about grammar, we are really referring to the rules of the game when it comes to language. How do we know if we are speaking with "good" or "bad" grammar? Very often, the answer lies in whether or not we are forming complete sentences, and that's what this course is all about!

This 5-week self-paced course will go over what all complete sentences need, the different types of sentences we can write, and how to spot run-on sentences and fragments.
Learning Goals
Construct complete sentences with a subject, verb, and object (if needed).
Incorporate simple, compound, and complex sentences into their written work.

Other Details

Pre-Requisites
While this isn't mandatory, I do recommend that students familiarize themselves with the parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, etc). I also offer a self-paced course on this if the learner isn't familiar with these concepts.
Supply List
Not mandatory, but I highly recommend the learner's use some sort of note-taking device like a notebook or tablet. This may come in handy for future reference.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from University of Calgary
I have a Bachelor's degree in Film Studies from the University of Calgary, and am currently completing my Bachelor's of Education at St Mary's University in Calgary. All this time in post-secondary has given me plenty of practice with reading, writing, editing, and proofreading essays, projects, and other scholarly work. Reading and writing are two of my lifelong passions. My father is a retired high school ELA teacher, and I thank him for my sharpened sense of grammatical accuracy.
