Description
Class Experience
The student will use a multi-sensory approach to develop and improve their language skills in phonemic awareness and word analysis on their current instructional level.
As an elementary and special education classroom teacher, I have taught word study and phonemic awareness implementing the multi-sensory approach using visual, auditory, and kinesthetic methods. I have a level 2 certificate in the Wilson Fundations level 2 program. This program was taught was a school wide program and intervention program as well. I have seen students achieve success and growth with implementing programs that offer the multi-sensory approach in word study and phonemic awareness.
Students will complete the one weekly assignment as part of their ongoing word study within the power point slides from class. It is recommended that the students practice 3 times a week for 15-30 minutes to improve their word study and phonemic awareness skills.
1 file available upon enrollmentSmall composition notebook I will be supplying the material from power point files within Outschool I will provide PDF file of all the words covered throughout the 8 week semester.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
As an introduction to word study and phonemic awareness program I will assess the students phonemic awareness and knowledge with a quick placement inventory. I will complete informal assessments throughout the lessons. First, during the students active engagement at the beginning of the lesson. Then, during the middle of the lesson within building words for spelling, reading , and writing. At the end of the lesson, I will be assessing the students completed assignments and tasks along with their continue assignment assigned.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
