Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will: 
1. write effectively for both purpose, function, and style.
2. read with passion and fall in love with books. 
3. read critically and think critically. 
4. communicate in various settings. 
Mrs. Lemons has a B.A. in English Literature, a minor in Education, and a Master's in Education Administration. She has her teaching certificate and principal's license, and she is certified to teach English / Language Arts and History / Social Studies. She has many years of experience at the middle and high school levels. Further, she is an adjunct faculty member at Colorado Christian University, supervising teaching candidates in their undergraduate and graduate programs. She is a teacher of teachers. 
Students will read 20 minutes, five nights a week. They will also have homework which should take them 30-60 minutes a week. 
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Both Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde have mature subject matter appropriate for high school students. Both novels have violence. For more information, you can visit commonsensemedia.org to read details about each novel.
