Class Experience

Students learn about jobs people in the community hold and understand opportunities that are available to them.  We will discuss 24 jobs, where people work, primary tasks, and vehicles or special tools needed. The class discussion will follow slides and have an accompanying packet of activities posted in the classroom. 

Day One: Dentist, Teacher, Software Developer, Librarian, Biomedical Engineer, Astronaut, Vet
Day Two: Physical Therapist, Engineer, Weather Person, News Reporter, Farmer, Postal Worker, First Responders
Day Three: Doctor/Nurse, X-Ray, Computer Analyst, Construction Workers, Financial Advisor, Pilot, Military Service

Welcome 1-3 minutes
Discussion, Questions and Answers to engage students 22-25 minutes
Accompanying activities and continued discussion 20-23 minutes
Review and Preview for the next class: 2-5 minutes

I served the Director of Ancillary Services tasked with planning and executing summer and winter camps at a PK-12 school. I hold a degree in Psychology and an MBA, a 150-hour master teacher certificate for teaching English as a second language courses and have served as a college counselor for almost 5 years advising students and families on the college acceptance process. I have taught middle school, have been an academic administrator in a Pre-K 12 school and was a founding director of a Learning Center.
