Students will review what they already know about firefighters. We will go over new facts about firefighters using songs, slides, and first-hand knowledge from a firefighter. We will discuss the importance of firefighters in the community answering the questions: what do firefighters do each day, why do communities need firefighters and how do firefighters help their communities. If students would like to, they mail their letter to a local fire department where they live. Mom and Dad can help them to find the address of one where they live to complete the envelope accurately.
