This five-week course helps your child learn and practice what to say; when to say it, and how to say it. Learners will discover ways to improve their active listening skills and express opinions appropriately through mini debates. By the end of this series, learners will have the tools they need to ensure what they need to say is being expressed properly. They will also have the knowledge that allows them to listen and understand what is being conveyed to them in verbal and nonverbal communications. This course relies heavily on a learner's ability to hold a conversation and understand and execute teacher instructions. Week 1: Exploring emotions via non-verbal communication Week 2: Active Listening using whole-brain activities Week 3: The Power of Words Week 4: Aggressive, Assertive, or Passive Week 5: Expressing Opinions Constructively with mini debates During the class, we will use discussion, pair-sharing, games, and slides to practice the different aspects of communication. This course is based on established and proven methods.
