The eight usages of the comma the student will learn are: Using a simple series in a sentence as well as clauses or phrases in a series. What is an introductory Element and how can it be identified. Understanding what is a coordinate Adjective and why it needs a comma. Combining independent & dependent clauses with a coordinating and subordinating conjunctions. When and where to use the comma with dates & address. Using a comma to show a pause or shift of tone in a narrative. Quotation marks come in three varieties and need to be punctuated correctly. Nonessential Words, Phrases, Adjective Clauses are the culmination of this class.
I have been teaching grammar since 2011 in the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand to a variety of learners from ages 6-45.
A single or double sided page of A4 homework will be assigned each class. The student is required to send it back to me, and have the paper at the start of the next class.
A notebook is a students best tool with pen or pencil and a few colored pencils or highlighters.
After each class, I will write a short note about the students progress.
