Class Experience

If you already know the basics of creating a comic book, like how to use dialogue, captions & sounds effects, and you are ready to write like a pro, attend this 1 time class to “level up” your skills.
We will discuss pacing, origin, page turner moments, establishing scope, and eliciting response.
Also covered will be a few different story structure development models like the L.O.C.K. system, the Pyramid and the 7 Story Beats.
All this information will be derived from interviews with well know comic artists, including Stan Lee, and popular You Tubers who are experts in the field. Visuals for each element will be provided using an interactive PowerPoint presentation and enhanced by questioning and discussion with all participants.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching through play since 2005 when I started an in-home preschool. It was then that I realized I was born to teach. While home with my 4 small children, I earned my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Since I became a NH Certified Teacher in 2014, I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade in public & charter school settings. I also coach soccer, have been a Girl Scout leader for 10 years, and operate After-school & Summer Enrichment programs. Joining Outschool is an exciting addition to my teaching opportunities and will allow me to reach more learners!
Some of my primary goals as a teacher are to instill the love of learning, the belief that learning is possible for all, and that challenges lead to progress. My favorite parts of teaching are hearing my learners laugh, embracing their growing personalities and learning styles, encouraging them to wonder and ask questions, overcoming challenges, and above all, sharing in their joy when they are successful.
