Whether you are learning comic book drawing style for the first time or looking to fine-tune your technique, this summer camp will help you use math to create dramatic and realistic cityscapes in the style of the best comic artists.
Class experience
Comic artists use geometry, measurement, perspective and many other important math art skills to create dramatic cityscapes that convey an exciting atmosphere where great adventures take place! In this week-long summer camp, students will learn the secrets of master comic book illustrators who use math to sketch out perspective, size, focus, building height, and architectural details that express a unique and bold comic drawing style. Students should bring unlined paper, pencil and eraser for drawing and any type of coloring art supplies they would like to use (pencils, crayons, ink, markers), as well as a ruler that measures in inches and centimeters. The slideshow of the lecture will be provided to all students after the class so that they can continue to review how to use math to draw some interesting artwork.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This class requires the continuous use of fine motor skills which are generally not sufficiently developed until students are AT LEAST NINE years of age. This class is specifically designed for students from age 9 to 14. Therefore, the minimum required age to register is 9 yrs and the maximum age is 14 yrs. **Please do not contact the teacher and ask to register students outside this age range** Thank you for respecting the age range of the class.
