Description

Class Experience

Create your very own comic book! Learn the difference between captions, speech/thought bubbles, and how to use splash pages and spreads while exploring character development (for the purpose of timing and consistency, we will all use the same character for the class).

Week 1
Comic Book Anatomy: What are the parts of a comic book and how are they used?
Gutter, Splash, Spread, Captions, Bubbles

Character Development: Using Eyes for Expression
Creating Your Character's Color Palette

Students will be asked to "bring their ideas for next week". Given that students work at varying paces, it is possible students may need to finish/complete the pages of their comic book outside of the classroom environment. We will always aim to complete the drawings, but coloring may require outside time, depending on their speed, and amount of details.

11x17 paper (10-12 sheets may not be used, but good to have if there are "mistakes"

1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

I will state in the outline that there are no weapons or blood, but please talk to your child about this before enrolling. It would be helpful to know what you are comfortable with so I can do my best to monitor/state the full set of parameters.
