Class Experience
My expertise is in stage and film acting as well as stand-up comedy. I am a great at motivating students to become the best versions of themselves. I have over 20 years combined working with 2nd grade to college to adults in acting and comedy. With over 25 years on stage and screen, I have learned and created many tips, tricks, and techniques that could help students in many areas. During this 30-minute private lesson, we can focus on an upcoming audition or performance or develop the skill needed to become a better performer.
Learning Goals
Students will participate in a one on one lesson with the teacher focusing on whatever aspect of comedy or acting they want. If they are preparing for an audition, want to perfect a stand-up routine, practice a musical number, work on a monologue, learn a dialect, play improvisation games, write a script, write a screenplay, practice a scene, prepare for a commercial or film, or even a reality TV show audition, then this is your class. I have dedicated my life to helping students prepare and look forward to working with you.

Hello Outschool world! My name is J.R. Coley, also known as Mr. Yo!, and I am a long time teacher and performer. I work professionally in the film and theatre industries, a career I started as a kid. In fact, it was around 3rd grade when I performed in my first commercial. I went on to graduate from Florida Atlantic University with a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance, and eventually went on to work there. For the last 12 years I have been the co-owner of Standing Ovation Performing Arts, where I have shared my passion of the arts with students of all ages. Some of the classes I offer are Acting for the Camera, Acting for the Stage, Monologue Performance, Playwriting & Screenwriting, Comedy Improvisation, Stand-Up Comedy and others!
