Class Experience

This class is so much fun, your student won't even realize they are learning something valuable in their communication development.
I will be a participant in most of the games aside from those times students go into breakout rooms. However, I will pop into every room to see how students are doing.

I just did a trial run with a younger set of children and the 9 year-old was begging me to play another game with him. What's really great about these games is that after only one session, I saw immediate change in his listening behavior! I can't wait to teach your child. The age range is 8-11 but I will take exceptions. Just let me know.

Classes start:
Week of March 1
"Warm up Exercises," "Yes And," "What’s on your stupid T-shirt?"

Week of March 8
"Yes and," "Alien Interview"

Week of March 15
"Story Swap," "Story Conductor"

Week of March 22
"Slideshow," "Word at a time"

(I will add games or delete games where appropriate)

*****Rules: Please print them out before class******
This is VERY IMPORTANT!
AT LEAST 3 STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN A GIVEN CLASS, ELSE NUMBER OF GAMES WILL BE LIMITED.
• We have an atmosphere of safety, trust and support.
• You are not by yourself, we’re playing together as a team and supporting each other.
• You are ALLOWED to MAKE MISTAKES, they often lead to the best bit in improv.
• You can say the first thing that comes to you, you don’t have to edit yourself, as long as you are coming from a place of fun, love and respect for your fellow improviser.
• You don’t have to be clever or funny or make up jokes, the humor will come naturally from each game.
• Listen.
• Yes And.
• Commit.

This is a "physical" class. Sometimes you will be asked to run around the room or act goofy, silly, or make funny faces.

Your student will learn communication, eye contact, giving / receiving, confidence, team-building, acceptance, and positivity.

It's exhilarating, exciting, and a lot of fun. Through this ongoing class, your student will learn that not all communication has to be scary and they'll also learn how to dominate it over time. Most of the exercises teach speed, quick-thinking, respect, the love of laughter, and acceptance.

 • Class size will determine if we meet in breakout rooms or in just one large room.

• Each child will have the opportunity to participate in several games and will gain confidence throughout the classes.

• Students will learn the basic principles of improvisational game theory: what it is, why it is important, and the rules to for a winning scene. They'll also learn how to think on their feet.

Content will be taught through a combination of highly interactive games that build student confidence.

About your teacher: I have several years of experience running an improv workshop for adults and many of my students have thanked me for helping them get in front of an audience. I have many leadership qualities as well as public speaking in leadership roles. I'm a great observer and live each class with empathy. I know what it's like to be nervous in front of an audience. Improv helped me so much to not only be funnier, but to communicate better.
Learning Goals
Learner will work on both verbal and non-verbal games that will help improve their concentration, study patterns, observation, and communication. We'll also touch on public speaking.
