Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will learn their basic letter names and sounds, numbers, colors, and shapes. They will identify, write, and draw them. They will also have a better understanding of their world around them and how everything works and relates to each other. They will practice spelling and writing their name, line tracing, scissor cutting, how to rhyme, retell stories, and make predictions. Learners will complete art work and sing songs.
There aren't any sensitive topics covered in this ongoing class.
I have been a kindergarten teacher for 5 years and now am an online and in person preschool teacher with my own company for the past year. I have an AS, BS, and Masters Degree in Elementary Special Education. I have also taught missionary children of this age and Sunday School classes at this level. I am fluent in speaking, writing, and reading in Spanish. I took 5 years of Spanish in high school and also lived in Chile and the Dominican Republic for a total of 6 years. My husband is a native Spanish speaker and I often speak with him at home.
Homework is optional. Any worksheet or craft not completed during class can be finished during the week.
These are items that you will need for various classes. I will message you with specifics for each class that you take. Please have a basket or plastic drawer set that contains a my first #2 pencil, eraser, crayons, markers, colored construction paper, white printer paper, post its, index cards, marker board/marker/eraser or sock, glue (stick may be easiest and faster to dry), safety scissors, container of play dough to make letters and numbers, a set of objects to count or do patterns with such as buttons, fruit loops...(something you can find in the house), set of alphabet letters or cards if you want for identifying or tracing with finger (these can be printed from PreK set), a sensory bin with different fillers like shredded paper or rice, paint with multiple colors/paintbrushes, paper plates, popsicle sticks, cotton balls, Q-tips, shaving cream, Pom Poms, clothes pins, spoons, paper bags, toilet paper and toilet paper rolls, googly eyes, Ziploc bags, food coloring, baking soda, vinegar, & permanent marker (adult basket area), playing cards, page protectors, paint dabbers of different colors, and chalk. If I have forgotten something, I will message you a couple days ahead of time. You can find these materials cheaply at a a dollar store or at home already. If you would like to have these handy for during or after class, it would also be fun for the kids to have these: letter and number stamps with ink pad, magnet numbers and letters with a cookie tray, something (an object, food, dress up item, stuffed animal) that corresponds to the letter, number, color, or shape to show in the beginning of class during calendar time (we will sometimes do a scavenger hunt in the house too), rolling die for numbers and letters (There are marker board ones to write on too) Please refer to the curriculum list and dates for more specifics. I highly recommend purchasing the Black and White Student Set with 181 printables from 2motivatedmoms@gmail.com in order to have all of templates and worksheets for letters, numbers, name, etc., templates for crafts, or other learning templates I will be using during class. Please email Laura and Ashley and they will fulfill your order. It will be printed and sent directly to your house al lready to go for class. It is $37 to purchase. Otherwise, I will message them day by day to you and have you print out yourself. If you have any questions, please message me. I know it is a lot, but once it is all organized in one spot, it will be easy to grab for that class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
informal assessment
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
I am a fun, interactive teacher who likes to use lots of props, materials, digital activities, worksheets, templates, games, crafts, songs, movement, different voices and expressions. I have a happy, bubbly personality with lots of smiles and laughter to give. We will try to move as much as possible, so make sure there is some space around the learning area.
Play-doh may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease. Please also be aware, you may need to supervise scissor cutting.
The lessons come from 2 Motivated Moms curriculum and don't build upon each other. I sometimes use my own google slides and powerpoints based on our lessons that I made, but it is usually just me showing the children how to put their crafts together or how to do the activity. I may also include a song or two on Youtube from Jack Hartman or Jean Feldman. Our games and singing songs include moving around the room sometimes and jumping up and down.
You do not need to log into anything except for our class.
We will be using parts of the 2 Motivated Moms curriculum and Fundamentals Curriculum by Joy Anderson with permission. www.2motivatedmoms.com
We also will be using songs from Dr. Jean Feldman and Jack Hartman with permission. drjean@drjean.org, drjeanandfriends.blogspot.com
I use my own Google slides and Powerpoints that I created based on the lesson plans. Like the Hello Song, Letter of the Day...
