In this multi-day book club, students will discuss "The Penderwicks", by Jeanne Birdsall, with a focus on both the literary aspects of the book, and fun, creative exercises. This is a no-judgement zone!

Description
Class Experience
In this multi-day class, students will read and discuss "The Penderwicks" by Jeanne Birdsall. This story of four sisters on a summer holiday who stay in a small cottage on a big estate is both heartwarming and empowering. While having fun, students will learn communication skills, analytical skills, and respect for one another's thoughts. Additionally, creativity, via paper and colored pens/pencils, will be an integral part of each session to help students more mindfully understand the text,...
Students will improve their reading, speaking, listening, and analytical skills. Additionally, students will be empowered to have the confidence to express themselves in a judgement-free zone.
There is no required homework; however, I find students enjoying brainstorming the texts so much, they enjoy creating new pieces in their off time.
"The Penderwicks" by Jeanne Birdsall. The book is readily available in public libraries, on amazon, and in audio form (which is perfectly acceptable). Paper and drawing materials (multi-colored highly suggested).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This is a judgement-free class-there is no right or wrong. I am always available, upon request, to provide a constructive assessment.
