In this multi-day course, students will learn how to count and compare amounts of Canadian coins and paper money up to $100. Classes will focus on identifying, counting, and comparing Canadian coins and bills. We will start with coins, first learning how to make 100 cents with different coins. Students will learn to represent amounts of money in more than one way, for example, they may be asked to show 65 cents in more than one way. Then we will move on to identifying and counting bills, up to $10. Finally, we will learn how to read and represent amounts up to $100. Worksheets will be uploaded into the classroom each week. Parents are asked to have these sheets printed out for class. If students do not have play or real money to use in class I can share printouts of money that can be cut out and used.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to represent, compare, and describe relationships between coins and bills up to $100.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Non-US Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
Hi, I'm Lisa. I live in the beautiful Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada. I have been teaching for 15 years now, first as a classroom teacher, now as a homeschooling mom. In the classroom I taught all subjects to various combinations of grades 1-4 students.
I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. I am a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers.
I believe learning should be fun. I feel education should inspire students to desire more knowledge and encourage them to explore the world.
I love spending time with my family. We enjoy playing board games and card games together. You can also find us watching Survivor together. My daughters and I love to experiment in the kitchen, especially if it involves chocolate. We all love animals, particularly our own cats and dogs. You may notice a cat or two sneaking up on my lap during my classes.
I'm looking forward to seeing you in the classroom!
