Description
Class Experience
In this fun class, we will learn about COLORS all around us. No prior knowledge is needed for this class. Does your child already know all the colors? This class gives learners an opportunity to practice and enhance their color recognition in a fun and engaging manner. The teacher will read a book about a cat who loves colors. After the book, learners will have an opportunity to go on an exciting scavenger hunt to find colored objects around the home and share with others. On your mark, get...
-Children will practice color recognition by finding colors around the home. They will practice presentation skills through "show and tell." Students will LISTEN to others in class and enjoy social time.
I have been a teacher since 1994. I have taught 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades in public schools and am currently a reading and writing interventionist in a middle school. I have privately tutored all ages and have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a minor in English. I'm TESOL, TEFOL, and ESL certified. In addition, I'm passionate about helping students reach their full potential while enjoying learning.
There is no homework. However, students can review the colors and continue finding objects around their home and telling what color the objects are.
1 file available upon enrollment1. The learner will need colored objects (green, pink, black, red, yellow, purple, brown, blue, white, and orange) to find around the home (red Lego, orange socks, etc.) and their furry feline friend (either their cat or a picture of a cat). 2. Two printable handouts will be provided prior to class. One handout may be used throughout the week to learn, or review, colors. The other handout is an extension activity for learners to review colors (after class).
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Informal assessment based on whether the student can find and describe colors
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Since this class is intended for young learners, it is recommended that a parent is nearby while the child is taking class. However, please remain off camera as much as possible. In addition, please make sure your child is finding safe items and safely (and kindly) handling pets if live animals are available.
I will be reading Jane Cabrera's book titled Cat's Colors. In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses Google Slides to present during class.
