Welcome to this one time class which is part of a series focused on contemporary living artists that can be taken in any order. Bisa Butler is an American artist working primarily in textiles. Through video and images students will learn about the life and work of Bisa Butler. They will then create their own "Bisa Piece" with various fabric samples. Students are encouraged to use glue instead of sewing for time and safety reasons. (No prior knowledge is needed.)
Students will be able to describe the life and processes of artist Bisa Butler. Students will create a piece of artwork made from fabric
Students will most likely continue finishing the piece for homework. If they are stitching they are encouraged to learn and cut during class and stitch afterwards. Photos uploaded into the classroom will be forwarded to the artist
