Class Experience

Students will become familiar with figurative language.

Students will enjoy games and activities focused on alliteration, simile, metaphor, exaggeration, and personification.

Students will have a positive experience around writing, and improve their confidence and overall joy in the writing process.

Students will avoid the summer slump, and keep their language arts skills fresh over the vacation.
Students may wish to color and decorate their pages between classes. They will bring me a few examples of figurative language from their everyday lives,
Your child should come to class with a notebook or several sheets of paper, and whatever pens, pencils, markers etc. they love to use for writing. For extra fun, they may bring chalk and a chalkboard, or a whiteboard and dry erase markers. I will provide graphic organizers in the classroom, so please print these prior to class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I am treating this class as a “ cozy club”, so I will not be doing any type of formal assessment. But I will informally check for understanding and retention as we go through the meetings.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
