This art class will introduce children to basic concepts of color theory as we explore ways to combine color and shapes for fun and creative drawing ideas. Students will be invited to talk about their drawings and interact with the group.

Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this class we will explore a discussion on color relationships and how different colors can express different energy and impact. Students will learn about how the combination of different colors can create visual effects such as contrasting colors which pop out vs complementary colors which blend together and create a softer appearance. We will explore ways to use these different colors in combination with different line textures, shapes, and patterns. We will experiment with various color combinations and drawing designs like wiggly lines, sharp lines and various shapes. Students will be invited to express themselves creatively while using concepts discussed in class to explore new creative ideas and draw a picture using the concepts of the day. The class schedule will be as follows: Week 1 : Choosing Colors and Creating Designs Week 2: Patterns that Pop Week 3: Colorwheel Combos and Art Creation Week 4: Creative Landscapes with Colors and Patterns

Supply List
Learners will need a few sheets of blank paper and some basic art supplies such as colored pencils, markers, or water colors. These materials should include the basic primary and secondary colors or colors of the rainbow.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hi! My name is Miss Lia; I am a lifelong creative person and am so excited to be sharing my creativity through a variety of classes. My main teaching focus will be to share creative expression through drawing and painting as well as more advanced art techniques like hand drawing, portraiture, color theory and more!
I have a 4-year degree in Visual Arts from SUNY New Paltz and I have additionally studied with several fine art painting mentors. I have been teaching private art students from ages 5-50 for over 8 years. I love working with kids and being playful and creative in a variety of ways.
Through my classes I hope to inspire children to find new ways to express themselves and to help them gain self confidence through various artforms while having fun!Reviews
