In this one-time colored pencil animal drawing class, students will learn to draw a realistic portrait (head to chest) of a bearded dragon lizard. Students will also learn a few facts about bearded dragons throughout class while drawing. If students have a bearded dragon, they are welcome to bring them to class while we draw! I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion...
1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a bearded dragon (face to chest). 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques for creating scaly texture for a bearded dragon's skin using colored pencils. 4. Students will learn a few facts about bearded dragons.
Because of how detailed this drawing is, there is a good chance students will need to finish their drawing outside of the designated class time.
1 file available upon enrollment***I will be using Prismacolor colored pencils, but students can use what they have. -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Colored Pencils: yellow, brown, black, white, peach
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and/or sharing of drawings.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
